Product Manager - Tailoring Technology
Lead platform that power personalised nutrition—scalable systems, smarter delivery, real impact for every dog.
Changing the world of pet food for good
We’re Tails.com, a dog food subscription company with a big difference. We create truly tailored food for each and every dog we serve. We start by asking people a few simple questions about their dog. Then we use that information to create their dog’s unique Tails.com recipe – so their dog gets exactly the nutrition they need, in the taste they love, delivered to their door every month. It’s clever stuff.
We’ve got bold plans. Having created an entirely new category in pet food, we’re now scaling fast– backed by Purina, one of the world’s largest pet food companies. You’ll join a bunch of smart people working towards the same goals – and a bunch of smart-ish dogs, all working on their own thing.
Together, we’ll change the world of pet food for good.
Product Management Team
Join Product Management at Tails.com, and you’ll be right in the midst of the action – working with people across the company to create product experiences that delight our customers. We work in highly collaborative cross-functional squads, bringing together engineers, designers, delivery managers, researchers, data analysts and whoever else we need to get the work done. We’re curious. We juggle many things at once. We balance a customer mindset with a commercial one, always looking for outcomes. To really thrive here you’ll be open to feedback, eager to learn, and quick to adapt.
Sound like a team you want to join? Here’s how you’ll make a difference:
The role
This Product Manager role is a unique opportunity to shape the heart of our Tailored Nutrition offering. You’ll lead the evolution of our internal platforms and tools, building scalable, reliable, and reusable systems that power personalised nutrition for every dog. Your work will empower product teams to experiment, move faster, and deliver features that make our nutrition more precisely tailored to each dog’s needs.
We’re looking for a PM who thrives in complexity. Someone who loves connecting the dots across teams and systems, and can turn technical challenges into clear, actionable direction. You don’t need to be the most technical person in the room; you need to be a systems thinker, a strong communicator, and a leader who brings people along on the journey.
You will be responsible for:
Vision & Strategy
- Shape and own the product vision and roadmap for Pet Squad, one of our core platform teams.
- Deliver resilient, high-impact capabilities that power both customer experiences and business outcomes.
- Align technical capabilities with company strategy, connecting backend systems to the customer experiences they enable.
- Balance near-term delivery with a long-term platform vision, making trade-offs explicit and intentional.
Collaboration & Delivery
- Partner closely with your Squad Lead and Engineers to rebuild and evolve core systems, ensuring robustness, scalability, and efficiency.
- Maintain clarity and alignment across multiple concurrent workstreams, unblocking issues, driving momentum, and ensuring focus.
- Refine the product backlog into actionable, well-contextualised tickets with clear feasibility, context, and acceptance criteria.
Discovery & Continuous Improvement
- Use discovery techniques to identify opportunities and validate problems worth solving.
- Apply agile and iterative practices to deliver value early, learn quickly, and continuously improve.
- Champion a learning mindset, fostering feedback loops that inform both product and technical evolution.
The skills you’ll bring:
- Proven experience leading cross-functional squads to deliver complex, high-impact initiatives in backend, API, or systems-focused domains.
- Strong ability to translate technical concepts into clear goals, roadmaps, and outcomes aligned with company strategy.
- Adept at partnering across engineering and leadership to balance technical investment with customer value — grounded in a deep understanding of how technical capabilities drive customer journeys and business impact.
- Curious, resilient systems thinker who connects dots across people, teams, and technology; able to dive into complexity, build subject matter expertise, and simplify insights for others.
- Excellent communicator and stakeholder partner who brings clarity, fosters alignment, and cuts through complexity with empathy and precision.
- Influential and resilient facilitator, able to guide teams and stakeholders through evolving priorities and change.
- Skilled in experimentation and data-informed decision making, using A/B testing and quantitative insights to validate hypotheses, learn quickly, and optimise impact.
- Fluent in agile delivery, shaping and managing backlogs, defining user stories with the right technical context, and applying iterative practices to deliver value early and often.
Even better if you have:
- Familiarity with API design and systems architecture.
- Experience in start-up or scale-up environments.
- Background in subscription-based services, ideally involving physical product delivery.
- Knowledge of the pet, nutrition, or wellness categories.
- Familiarity with large-scale platform transformations in a growing business.
- Hands-on experience with advanced personalisation, machine learning, and AI-driven solutions.
