We're looking for an Analytics Engineer to join our Data team at Tails.com. This role will work closely with Data Analysts, Data Scientists, Infrastructure and Software Engineers, and cross-functional teams to drive forward our company strategy. We have a huge wealth of data - we need you to help us make sense of it and deliver insights that will help drive our strategy to change the world of pet food for good.
Changing the world of pet food for good
We’re Tails.com, a dog food subscription company with a big difference. We create truly tailored food for each and every dog we serve. We start by asking people a few simple questions about their dog. Then we use that information to create their dog’s unique Tails.com recipe – so their dog gets exactly the nutrition they need, in the taste they love, delivered to their door every month. It’s clever stuff.
We’ve got ambitious plans. Having created an entirely new category in pet food, we’re now scaling fast in the UK and Europe – backed by Purina, one of the world’s largest pet food companies. You’ll join a bunch of smart people working towards the same goals – and a bunch of smart-ish dogs, all working on their own thing.
Together, we’ll change the world of pet food for good.
Data Team
The Data team at Tails.com sits centrally within our Commercial function and partners across the entire business. Our team covers the entire spectrum of data-related tasks, from collecting and processing data to making insightful visualisations and conducting rigorous experiments. We play a vital role in helping individuals at Tails.com make informed decisions, driving the continued success and growth of our business.
Build our brand
We’re building an international brand, fast. We set ambitious goals. We challenge and support each other in equal measure. At the pace we’re moving, we prefer to test ideas and learn quickly rather than spend months building a business case. That means we celebrate when things go right, and we learn when things go wrong.
Sound like a team you'd like to join? Here’s how you’ll make a difference:

- Partnering with different divisions within Tails.com to source and refine data, driving the creation of cross-divisional data products that enhance insights
- Developing and updating comprehensive documentation and playbooks, making methodologies and insights accessible across the organisation
- Investigating new data modelling and visualisation techniques to assist in advanced analytics projects
- Managing our Snowflake costs, e.g., reducing unnecessary tests and deployment
- Managing procurement of new or alternative systems solutions across our stack
The skills you’ll bring:
- Skilled in translating complex business needs from multiple sources or processes into actionable conceptual and physical data models, ensuring the development of scalable analytics products that closely align with and support strategic business objectives

- Collaborative team player with excellent stakeholder engagement skills at all levels
- A continuous learner, open to exploring new technologies and methodologies in data analytics
Nice-to-have
- If you have experience in setting up good team practices, even better!
